Yay! It’s so fun! I actually just bought a hobonichi 5 year journal to start in 2026 that I’m going to do this in, which is probably crazy but in 5 year should be fun to look back on 😬

Haha. Yes! Glad to send you down this rabbit hole. There are all sorts of fun things you can do with the 5 year too, like use the blank page on the right for a little text describing each day or (and this is likely what I’m going to do) turn it into a 10 year journal by drawing in the next 5 years on the blank page.

I struggle to keep a pure "sketch" notebook, always have. But I *love* planners. This feels like a good middle ground tbh.

I agree! There is something satisfying about drawing in a planner. Less precious somehow than a sketchbook and also motivating in a way a sketchbook is not (for me) because it’s dated.

I’ve been doing the Hobinichi style journaling for two years now. I call it “Doodle Memories”. And I love it.

Also mix it with the other type of journaling you shared! Thanks so much for the inspiration
